Those of you who are looking for ways to generate an income from a website would be wise to investigate becoming an affiliate.
Affiliates make money by encouraging users of their site to click through to sites of which they are affiliates and then get paid a commission for leads and sales generated from that link.
I have just uploaded a great ebook on becoming an Affiliate Master.
From this book you will learn how to create a Theme-Based Content Site... a site that is loaded with high value Keyword-Focused Pages that rank highly with the Search Engines *AND* get the click through to income-generation sources. The choices for monetizing your targeted traffic are numerous... from affiliate merchant sites, to Google's AdSense Program, to finder's fee relationships, to an online store, to selling your own product/service, to name just a few.

Each month it focuses on two businesses and through intense 'question and answer' interviews dissect each business, exposing all the tools, tips and strategies they used to start, build and grow their companies to their current level of success.
It's completely free to try as there's a trial subscription available.
Here's the link if you're interested in finding out more. The page looks a bit naff but the content is good:
Most website owners are aware of the usefulness of sitemaps in promoting their content to search engines. However, it has been frustrating up until now having to register them with each search engine and continually ping them when changes are made.
Well, I found out great news the other day that Yahoo has decided to start supporting the sitemap.org XML sitemap format rather than their own text format making site maintenance much easier. This means that you only need to produce one sitemap to let both Google and Yahoo know about updates to the content on your site.
Also, they are now supporting the new Sitemap location in the robots.txt file. This new tag allows search engines to auto discover where you have located your sitemap rather than making you submit them to each engine in turn.
To take advantage of this feature just add the following line to your robots.txt file:
Sitemap:
The should be the complete URL to the sitemap, such as http://www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml.
It doesn't matter where in the file you put it, and if you are using a sitemap index for multiple sitemaps you can just put the location of that rather than individual listings for each file.
I love going on holiday. Not just for the obvious reasons of relaxing and having fun, but because it gives a chance to reflect, step back and think about new plans, business ideas and thoughts.
I had another idea for a new online company whilst away and thought that you’d find it useful if I shared my experience of building it with you. Encompassing everything that Cyberneur is about, I’m going to use all areas to build and grow my new site.
I’ll keep a blog to illustrate what is involved in building a site and let you know of any good/bad experiences I have along the way. For those of you considering launching your own website, I'm hoping you'll find this useful. My new site will be quite simple, but will provide a platform for expansion in the future. I'll tell you more over the coming days....
One of the benefits of running a website as opposed to a more "fixed" bricks and mortar company is the fact tha you can run your business from anywhere in the world.
I am currently vacationing in Turkey, at the wonderful Kempinski Hotel in Barbaros Bay. My wife and I had specifically checked that the hotel had WiFi, so that we could manage our online companies whilst away.
Unfortunately, nature had other plans! We arrived to find forest fires were raging right next to our hotel and no one was allowed access in or out. Obviously there was no telling when we would be able to get in so we were provided with alternative accomodation but without easy access to the internet.
Fortunately we were able to check into the hotel the next day but came across another problem. Because Cyberneur is relatively new the site DNS entry hadn't propagated to the server in Turkey so we still couldn't access the site. I noticed that I had set the server up on a shared rather than dedicated IP address and so took the decision to change it (which while affecting users for a short period of time as it made it's way around the world's servers would be better for the long term) Anyway, 24 hours later and we're back up and running.
So, I guess the best laid plans don't always mean things will turn out the way you expect, sometimes life has other ideas :-)
The site has been live now for a couple of weeks and I've obviously been working hard with Emma (marketing) to develop the site, so it has useful content and is easy to navigate. We're getting more users on the site now which is great and our visitors are increasing day by day.
It's important to us that the site is useful to our users, so the screening of content is very important to us. Articles on Search Engine Optimization (SOE), blogging, submitting articles to other sites etc are all useful for you to know about (some of you will be familiar, but some of you will be completely new to it).
Although we see the site for social networking, we want you to stand out from the crowd so we want to help where possible to provide you with the knowledge needed.
